About this study guide

The chapter teaching, reflections, narrations, and summaries come from the 31 Proverbs studies in Arno Pienaar’s Understanding the Bible project. Conversation-only image requests and production notes have been removed; headings and page breaks have been arranged for reading.

This is a study companion, not a complete Bible translation. Read the passage in your own Bible alongside each chapter. Scripture quotations retain the wording and translation labels of the original studies. Original cover artwork is a symbolic illustration.

Read proverbs as wisdom for living before God, attentive to the setting and the whole of Scripture. Keep the poetry, pastoral application, and the words of the Bible distinct as you reflect.

The book includes collections associated with Solomon and other wise voices, including Agur and Lemuel’s mother. Read Proverbs 30–31 (internet needed).
